The pandemic has seen many changes to our everyday lives, one being the amount of people regularly out cycling, horse riding, running, and walking. This of course is great for our health and wellbeing but does carry an increased risk of traffic accidents. Vulnerable road users are anyone who is unprotected by a motor vehicle, with the most vulnerable being children, the elderly, people with disabilities, as well as learner and inexperienced drivers and riders.

As a motorist there some simple measures we can take to help keep each other safer:

  • Watch for pedestrian crossing
  • Respect bike lanes
  • Be extra vigilant in car parks
  • Ditch the distractions
  • Be extra careful at night & in poor weather conditions
  • Have respect & patience for other road users

And finally, if you have an incident and need to make a claim, report it as soon as possible, ideally the same day when everything in fresh in your mind.
